Fosters Bakery are Running 10K for Bowel Cancer!

We took part in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K last year and we are back again! This year, we are running for a fantastic charity called Bowel Cancer UK. Recently, one our our colleagues has been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and all of us at Fosters Bakery want to support her through this difficult time. So, we’re putting on our trainers and trying to raise some money in support of our team member. We are a bakery based in Barnsley with a small team who have challenged themselves to do a 10K. We are a mixed ability group but all have a lot of heart and want to do our best for our colleague and to promote awareness of Bowel Cancer UK and the research, support and expertise that they provide.

If you would like to donate, please go to our Just Giving page, any donation of any size would be hugely appreciated and valued!

If you’d like to hear a little more about the charity we are supporting, please see below.

Bowel Cancer UK is one of the UK’s leading charities for Bowel Cancer and were founded in 1984. Patrick Dolan set up the Britta Dolan Memorial Cancer Fund after his wife passed away from Bowel Cancer. Frustrated with the lack of research and support in the UK, he raised £500,000 with the help of his family and friends to buy medical supplies and provide funding for research.

Now, as an established and leading charity, Bowel Cancer UK offer support, fund research and offer expertise. Along with this, they also campaign for early diagnosis and ensuring people have the best treatment and care possible. Offering expertise by running workshops and training session, Bowel Cancer UK have a group of volunteers who help to spread awareness of systems, risk factors and bowel cancer screening.

Bowel Cancer UK have a huge variety of campaigns as well as leading research projects. You can read more about all the work that they do on their website, or you can read the posters below which summarise the work that Bowel Cancer UK do and also the symptoms you may experience.

We would love to get some money raised for our colleague and Bowel Cancer UK, so please donate to this worthy cause!
